jay's mugen timeline
a little boring history lesson, if you will indulge me. i started using this little game engine, you may have heard of it, called mugen. i began using this engine as early as 2016-2017, when i tried creating a character i doodled a lot during my middle school classes. his name was dude (you can download that version too.) once i began to understand more of how this engine worked, i started posting videos of my creations to youtube, in fact showcasing a mugen character was my first video! ikemen game reviews
ever since i fleshed out battle dudes, i began to grow obsessed with the ikemen engine (a reformed variant of the mugen engine that makes it open source). though battle dudes may get zero attention or feedback, that wont stop me from giving back to the community. my new mission when laid bare is no longer to make a good fighting game. my longtime goal of making a good fighting game has already been achieved, at least in my heart of hearts. my mission now is to try my best to wipe the mugen stigma from ikemen games. i understand that mugen will always get a bad rep. part of that is deserved. but i just want to go out there and make it known that ikemen is in a different universe when it comes to its capabilities. hell, we are one online lobby/spectating feature away from basically having everything (i might even try to attempt that myself).

i yap about all that to say, im now going to bring detailed write-ups of all the ikemen games ive played extensively. games i have worked on will not be mentioned here (like capcom vs. square) since i am in charge of the gameplay, so what i come up with will of course be seen as good in my eyes, these other reviews will be from my own perspective as an outsider looking in.

these reviews will all be formatted relatively the same. also, i will not be "grading" them as my enjoyment and view of what makes a good fighting game is subjective. i will make statements in an objective matter, but of course theyre just my opinion, you can just ignore it if you dont like it.

if you are a dev for any of these games i am reviewing, just know that as a solo dev myself, i know how hard you worked your ass off, so be proud of what you made. i will try to make my criticism as constructive as possible as i want nothing more than for all these ikemen games to improve, so anything negative i may say is just resulting from me seeing potential in the game to be far better.

obviously these writeups arent gonna be that important to rubbing the stigma off from ikemen games. hell theyre barely gonna register as a blip. im doing all this because im heavily involved in the general fgc as a competitor, so i understand what people who know nothing about ikemen see in a game to determine if its good or not, and im merely just presenting what these games can do to get closer to that commercial feeling. of course im not gonna just parrot the average fgc member's opinions because theyre ass but im doing my best. with all that said, here are all the games.
